Greenwave RI was proud to take part in the first CannaKarma Golf Tournament. The event brought Rhode Island’s cannabis community together for golf, fun, and a good cause. Money raised at the event will support Operation Stand Down Rhode Island and Abba’s Army. Both groups help veterans and their families when they need care and support.
A Day of Golf, Connection, and Community Impact
The 2026 CannaKarma Golf Tournament was held at Cranston Country Club. It gave people in the cannabis field a place to meet and build strong ties. Players also enjoyed friendly games and time together on the course. Most of all, the day helped turn those new ties into real help for local veterans.
The event focused on three simple goals:
- Bring the cannabis community together
- Enjoy a fun day of golf and friendly play
- Raise funds for veterans in need
Why Greenwave RI Took Part
At Greenwave RI, we care about the people and towns around us. Taking part in the CannaKarma Golf Tournament gave our team a way to stand with local veterans. It also showed what can happen when Rhode Island cannabis groups work as one. We thank the event team, players, sponsors, and guests who helped make the first tournament count.
Greenwave is an adult-use cannabis dispensary in Foster, Rhode Island. Adults age 21 and older can shop our online menu for pickup or join our rewards program to earn points. We work to offer a warm and helpful visit each time. Our work in the community is one more way we try to make a good local impact.
What Is Operation Stand Down Rhode Island?
Operation Stand Down Rhode Island is a nonprofit group that helps homeless and at-risk veterans. It began in 1993 and is based in Johnston. The group gives veterans support that can meet more than one need at a time. Its goal is to help each veteran build a safer and more stable life.
Its services include:
- Permanent, short-term, and recovery housing
- Rent and housing support for some veterans
- Job training, job search help, and career support
- Food, clothing, and personal care items
- Free legal help for veterans who qualify
- Help with VA disability claims and appeals
These services can help a veteran move from a hard time to a fresh start. Safe housing can give a person a place to rest and plan. Job help can lead to steady pay and more choice. Food, legal aid, and claim help can also remove big problems that stand in the way.
What Is Abba’s Army?
Abba’s Army is a Rhode Island nonprofit that raises money for veterans in need. It was started in 2021 in memory of Wendy Iadevaia, who was known as “Abba” by her family. She cared deeply about veterans and gave what she could to help them. Her family now carries that spirit on through this group.
Abba’s Army helps with basic needs such as:
- Rent and safe housing
- Heat and fuel
- Food for the home
- Costs tied to a health or money crisis
- Ramps and other home changes for veterans with disabilities
The group also works with local contractors on home projects. These changes can make it safer for a veteran with a disability to move around the home. A ramp, landing, or wider doorway may look like a small change, but it can bring more freedom each day. Gifts and volunteer work help make this care possible.
Why Support for Veterans Matters
Some veterans face hard times after their service ends. A lost job, high rent, poor health, or a home that is hard to use can make each day feel unsafe. Local groups can step in fast and connect a veteran with the right help. Events like the CannaKarma Golf Tournament give these groups more tools to do that work.
This kind of event also builds trust across the cannabis community. It gives local businesses a shared goal that is bigger than any one brand. Greenwave RI was honored to be part of that work. We hope the event keeps growing and helping more veterans in the years ahead.
Thank You for Making the First Tournament Count
The first CannaKarma Golf Tournament was about more than a score on a card. It was about people coming together to help veterans find food, housing, work, care, and hope. Thank you to everyone who played, gave, planned, or shared the event. To learn more about our Foster dispensary and community work, visit Greenwave RI.
